Why are lab-grown diamonds also called green diamonds?

Lab-grown diamonds, also known as green diamonds, are not extracted from the Earth like traditional diamonds. Instead, they are cultivated in a laboratory using advanced technological processes. This method of diamond production ensures that environmentally friendly diamonds are produced in accordance with ethical standards and do not have any direct or indirect negative impact on the environment. When lab-grown diamonds are produced in a controlled laboratory environment, they do not cause any harm to natural habitats.

In contrast, diamond mining causes irreversible damage to the Earth. It is reported that extracting a 1.0-carat diamond requires digging approximately 1,750 tons of earth. According to the Frost & Sullivan report titled "Environmental Impact Analysis: Diamond Production," mined diamonds produce 57,000 grams of harmful carbon emissions per carat. On the other hand, lab-grown diamonds have an emission of only 0.028 grams per carat, significantly reducing their environmental impact.
